What is Java

Java is a high level, general-purpose object-oriented programming language which was developed by James Gosling and team at Sun microsystem in 1991. This language was initially called as ‘Oak’, but was renamed ‘Java’ in 1995 and later acquired by Oracle corporation.

Java is based on WORA(write once, run anywhere),it means the compiled Java code can run on all platform that support Java. The latest version of Java is Java 10, which is released on March 20,2018.
